Serco MD, Clinton Holcroft presents the trailers’ unique qualities |
At 15:00pm on 19 March 2009, Serco unveiled and officially launched their all new Super Reefer Lite trailer at the Automechanika show held at the Nasrec show grounds in Johannesburg. As the launch kicked-off the rain sporadically came pouring down, forcing Serco’s MD, Clinton Holcroft, to move his presentation under the covers of Serco’s cozy tent. Whilst presenting to a large eager crowd, Holcroft gave an enthralling overview of the Super Reefer Lite’s extraordinary attributes. This trailer takes the slogan of “Less Weight, More Freight beyond belief with an unladen weight class of only 8240kg, this new-age trailer also provides a bigger tolerance to prevent overloading from incorrect weight distribution. Uniquely through a skit in the pouring rain , this trailer was demonstrated to have a new generation EBS-E (Electronic Braking System) from Wabco that allows for faster reaction times and RSS (a roll stability system), all making the trailer safer to drive with. The fact that this trailer is lighter

means that less fuel is used and less CO2 is emitted. Also incorporated into the clever dialogue of the skit was the mention of ease of repair of the trailer and the features of having ECAS (Electronic Controlled Air Suspension) and Smartboard technology fitted within the refrigerated wheeler. As far as refrigeration goes, the trailer comes with Thermo-King 200SLX, Polypropylene panel return air head, cooler unit protractor and a cooler unit access ladder. It was an unusual launch that was well presented, leaving information retention much easier. Team Serco were very hospitable and entertaining with no problems of pulling of a successful launch, even when Mother Nature threw some curve balls. ◊
